AT&T Pure running Windows Mobile 6.5
With Steve Ballmer’s recent admission that Microsoft had dropped the ball with Windows Mobile, and really should have released WinMo 7.0 by now, one should have realistically low expectations for the fresh-from-the-oven WinMo 6.5. Those who are still hoping for a miracle might prefer not to read the five quotes we’ve compiled from the first round of reviews.
Windows Mobile 6.5 is a spit and polish job on 6.1 – nothing more, nothing less. It’s a means of holding people over until Windows Mobile 7 – at least, we hope that’s all it is. I’d like to think that 6.5’s stunning failure to innovate is a symptom of a neglected project—maybe Microsoft just needed something, anything to hold people over until the mythical Windows Mobile 7 comes out, whatever it is. You can summon up Win Mobile in one word CRAP!
It’s a shame indeed that a conglomerate like Microsoft neglects something that seems to be determing the future of computing: mobile technology. Even Google has launched their own OS which is a better product even though they had half the time given Microsoft to produce their operating system. And to be quite honest I don’t see any reason why the Mobile 7 will be that much better than the previous Windows versions we’ve seen.
That’s not fair. Microsoft never ever guaranteed any of their software nor have they ever guaranteed that an upgrade would be an improvement. So why would anyone think that this is going to be any different?
Why would anyone believe that WinMo 7.0 will be any different? Is there something I’m missing. Oh yeah, the move to Android. Screw WinMo, screw Apple, take a bite of Android & step up to open source software that runs better, has far fewer malware projects & is supported by the whole world.
A thousand or so open-source programmers have got to be better at development than the thousand lawyers at M$ who just buying claiming patents.
