Windows Marketplace
At TechEd last week, Microsoft announced that applications bought from the upcoming Windows Marketplace will allow you to use them on up to five devices, once those devices have been registered with the Marketplace – even if those devices are owned or used by people other than yourself.
You might think developers would take offense to the concept of selling less applications, especially given your friends and family would be likely to buy an application you recommend, but according to Daniel Bouie, a senior product planner at Microsoft, a vast majority of developers they’ve talked to have responded positively.
Apple’s competing App Store allows multiple devices to use an application provided they all use the same iTunes account information, including credit card details.
