Hip to be square with the Samsung Gloss

U.S. Cellular has announced the availability of new square shaped flip phone from Samsung. Available in his ’n’ hers charcoal or pink the Samsung Gloss (aka the SCH-U440) includes a 2.2-inch QCIF 220 x 176 pixel display and boasts a textaholic friendly full QWERTY keyboard inside a 2.55 x 2.94 x .82-inch clamshell form factor.

Samsung Alias 2 uses E-Ink keys to solve dual-hinge usability issues

Verizon today announced the availability of the Samsung Alias 2. Like its predecessor, it’s still a dual-hinge messaging phone with EV-DO connectivity, but this time around Samsung used E-Ink keys to solve the usability issues that arise from slapping two labels onto a single key.

Samsung: smartphones to make up 29 percent of the market in 2012

Samsung Mobile Display, a joint venture between Samsung Electronics and Samsung SDI, is predicting the global smartphone market will grow from 170 million devices in 2009 to 500 million devices in 2012, taking the market share from 14 percent to 29 percent.
