AT&T is upgrading its existing 3.6 Mbps HSPA network to 7.2Mbps HSDPA using software upgrades at its base stations. Two test markets are already operating at 7.2Mbps, and AT&T is currently using them to field certify 7.2Mbps devices, which include most 3G hardware sold by the company, including the iPhone 3G.
