IBM launching Android real-time Wimbledon update application

At Wimbledon, Twitterati young and old will feverishly tweet 140 character reports while others send SMS directly and some even make voice calls to convey what’s happening during the tournament. But this year, IBM brings location-aware visualization technology to aggregate and deliver court-side updates in real-time.

T-Mobile to launch a new Android phone soon

T-Mobile CTO Cole Brodman has indicated that a second Android phone is on the way “in a few weeks.” The new phone will be a follow-up to the T-Mobile G1 (read: the HTC Magic/Google Ion/T-Mobile G2) and is expected to be released later on this summer.

Unofficial Android 1.5/Cupcake update available for G1 users

Here’s one that’s sure to interest those of you who are tired of waiting for Google to release the Android 1.5/Cupcake. A hacker by the name of haykuro has managed to port the as yet unreleased operating system from the upcoming HTC Magic/G2 device to the Dream/G1.

Google backflips on decision to pull tethering apps from the Android Market

Seth over at False Dichotomies has heard from Google regarding their decision to remove tethering apps from the Android Market:
We inadvertently unpublished your application for all mobile providers; if you like, we can restore your app so that all Android Market users outside the T-Mobile US network will have access to your application.

Google removes tethering apps from the Android Market

Google has removed a number of applications from the Android Market that allow users to tether their handsets to other devices in order to share an Internet connection, including Wifi Tether for Root Users, citing a clause in the Developer Distribution Agreement that allows apps in violation of the Authorized Carrier’s ToS to be removed.

ContactsCalendarSync Android app available for $9.95 through April 16

ContactsCalendarSync is an Android application that syncs your calendar and contacts between an Exchange Server and your Android handset, and it will be available for $9.95 ($15 off the usual price) for two weeks starting April 2.
