CyanogenMod receives C&D from Google

The developer of CyanogenMod, an “unofficial” build of Android based on Cupcake that incorporates parts of Donut and a number of contributions from the xda-developers.com community, has received a cease and desist from Google.

BlockBuster OnDemand movies headed for Motorola handsets

BlockBuster has announced it will expand its OnDemand streaming movie service to mobile devices in the form of Motorola mobile phones and smartphones. The service will eventually give Motorola users access to thousands of movie titles for viewing on the go.

Sprint to offer at least one Android device this year

During Fortune’s Brainstorm: Tech event in Pasadena, Sprint CEO Dan Hesse confirmed Android is now ready for prime time. The Now Network wasn’t quite comfortable with Android last year, but with the latest version of the OS, Sprint is gearing up for at least one Android device in 2009.

HTC introduces Hero with new Sense UI

When Android was first introduced, one of the big selling points on the idea was that handset manufacturers would be able to take that open operating system and build custom features into it.  On Friday, HTC introduced the first device that takes advantage of that capability: the Hero with HTC Sense.

Adobe Flash 10 for smartphone beta coming in October, but not for everyone

According to their presentation on Q2 2009 Financials, Adobe will be bringing their Flash 10 for smartphones into beta this fall on several different platforms.  More notable, however, might be the platforms that weren’t included in the presentation.
