Verizon today announced a new 3G-enabled version of the BlackBerry Pearl Flip will launch on their network on June 19. The Pearl Flip features RIM’s proprietary SureType keyboard, a 2.0 megapixel camera with flash and video recording, visual voice mail, and a microSD slot to provide up to 16GB of storage.
AT&T has announced plans to double the speed of its wireless broadband network by rolling out HSPA (High Speed Packet Access) technology. The HP Mini 1151NR, which takes a relatively standard set of netbook internals (1.6GHz Atom N270 CPU, 1GB of RAM and 80GB storage) and adds Qualcomm’s Gobi 3G modem for EV-DO Rev. A and HSPA 3G access, is now available from Verizon for $199.99 on a two-year contract.
SlingPlayer Mobile has finally arrived in the App Store, with one fairly major handicap – it won’t stream video over a 3G network. AT&T have cited their terms of service, which prohibits applications that “redirect a TV signal to a personal computer”, as the reason for blocking SlingPlayer’s 3G capability.

AT&T is upgrading its existing 3.6 Mbps HSPA network to 7.2Mbps HSDPA using software upgrades at its base stations. Two test markets are already operating at 7.2Mbps, and AT&T is currently using them to field certify 7.2Mbps devices, which include most 3G hardware sold by the company, including the iPhone 3G.
