Blackberry Tour 9630
Yesterday Sprint (and Verizon as well) announced details on the availability of the new Blackberry Tour 9630. The Tour is aimed at jetsetting customers, as it will not only operate on Sprint’s 3G network in North America but will allow customers to roam on foreign GSM networks.
The Tour features a high resolution display (480 x 360), a full QWERTY keyboard, the customary Blackberry trackball, and has memory expandable up to 16 GB with a microSD/SDHC card. It also has a 3.2 megapixel camera with autofocus to capture both pictures and video. It also comes loaded with all of the big Sprint software packages: Sprint Music Store, Sprint TV, Sprint NFL Mobile Live, and NASCAR Sprint Cup Mobile.
The device features both a 3G CDMA radio to operate where Sprint service is available and a quad-band EDGE/GSM/GPRS radio for roaming outside Sprint’s coverage. According to Sprint, the Tour can make phone calls in over 185 countries and make use of its data connection in almost 150 countries. Most importantly, it allows for a 3rd party SIM card for international voice and data services (crucial for avoiding exhorbitant roaming charges).
The Tour will be available this summer for $199.99 for eligible customers with a 2-yr service agreement, a $50 instant rebate, and $100 mail-in rebate.
