May 29, 2009 Sony is touting its new Entertainment Unlimited series of mobile phones as offering a fusion of communication and entertainment (communitainment? entercation maybe?). The first three phones to enter the Entertainment Unlimited stable are all 3G-enabled (HSPA), sport a built-in GPS receiver, accelerometer, Bluetooth, and a microSD memory slot. Let’s take a quick look see.
Sony Ericsson Yari
The Yari is a slider phone with gaming aspirations. Like the Wii, it offers gesture and motion controlled movement during games and includes dedicated gaming keys. A number of pre-installed motion sensitive games come with the phone, which can be accessed directly through the desktop using the “gaming carousel” interface. Other features include 2.4-inch QVGA (240×320) display, 5.0 megapixel autofocus camera, FM radio and stereo speakers. Included with the Yari is a 1GB memory card, EC500 phone stand and MH300 headset. The phone, which measures 100×48×15.7 mm and has a weight of 115 grams, will be available in Achromatic Black or Cranberry White
Sony Ericsson Aino
The Aino is a slider phone packing a 3-inch (240×432) touchscreen, 8.1 megapixel autofocus camera, Wi-Fi connectivity and Remote Play support for remotely controlling and viewing content stored on a PS3. Instant messaging, Facebook and Youtube apps are also included, while the phone comes bundled with an 8GB memory card, color-matched MH100 Wireless Headphones and design-matched EC100 Charging Stand. The Aino measures 104×50×15.5 mm, weighs 134 grams and will be available in Obsidian Black or Luminous White.
Sony Ericsson Satio
First introduced as the ‘Idou’, the Satio is the flagship of the Entertainment Unlimited Series. It is a candybar phone with a 3.5-inch 16:9 nHD (640×360) touchscreen, 12.1 megapixel autofocus camera, W-Fi, TV Out, handwriting recognition, S60 5th edition Symbian OS and on-screen QWERTY keyboard. Bundled with the Satio is an 8GB memory card and color-matched stereo portable handsfree kit. The Satio measures 112×55×13.3 mm, weighs 126 grams and will be available in Black, Silver and Bordeaux.
All three phones in the Entertainment Unlimited range are due to hit stores in “early Q4” at prices yet to be announced.
