Verizon’s open development program, announced last November, allows customers to bring their own devices for use on Verizon’s wireless network, provided those devices have been certified by Verizon. The Sierra Wireless USB 598 is the latest device to receive that certification, offering contract-free EVDO Rev. A connectivity with average download speeds of 600-1400 kilobits per second (kbps), and average upload speeds of 500-800 kbps.

Additionally, a microSD slot allows you to slot in a microSD card and use the USB 598 as a USB drive/card reader.

The USB 598 modem is available online at www.sierrawireless.com, www.brightpoint.com and www.brightstarcorp.com.
