RIM has big plans for future of Blackberry browser

Flash coming to Blackberry browser

Boy Genius Report has been doing some digging and have all but confirmed that RIM has plans to really improve the Blackberry browser (which at this point is a pretty poor experience).  How are they going to do that? With full Flash and Microsoft Silverlight support.

To be fair at this point all BGR really knows is that they’re planning to bring this to the browser.  The best guess is sometime next year when RIM begins upgrading their devices to support next generation speeds, such as LTE.  These speeds are crucial to make the experience a good one for users.  According to BGR, RIM has achieved speeds up to 10 Mbps in their testing of LTE devices.

Of course nationwide coverage of LTE & other 4G networks is still a couple of years away.  So if RIM is going to release this next year, it needs to be somewhat operable on 3G networks.  If they don’t get it out next summer (or sooner), Skyfire may beat them to the punch.
