The Nokia RX-51 prototype
Following hot on the heels of news the T-Mobile version of Nokia’s Internet Tablet, also known as the N900 Rover or RX-51, has passed through the FCC, comes some juicy pics of said device. Although the images are of a prototype, they appear to show a fairly polished looking unit that seems a pretty good match with the images of the Rover leaked in May.
The ‘Rover’, which appears as the RX-51 in the FCC filing, is expected to be the first in a new line of Maemo 5-powered devices from Nokia. Aaccording to the FCC filing, it is a Quadband GSM/GPRS/EDGE, tri-band WCDMA (900/1700/2100) smartphone with Bluetooth + EDR, Wi-Fi, FM transmitter, 1320 mAh battery and slide-out physical QWERTY keyboard.
The May leak seems to have been pretty accurate in the specs department too with its prediction of 3.5-inch 800 x 480 pixel resistive touchscreen, 32GB of internal memory, MicroSDHC support, GPS and 5.0 MP Carl Zeiss camera with dual-LED flash, auto-focus and sliding cover.
It was close, but no cigar for the prediction of an OMAP3430 500/600 MHz processor though. The device will apparently be powered by an ARM Cortex A8 processor with speeds of 600MHz up to 1GHz, making it similar to the iPhone 3GS and Palm Pre.
There’s no word on pricing or a release date, but the device is tipped to be available sometime this year.
