For a number of reasons (primarily, long term iPhone envy) I went with the new iPhone 3GS. I worked for a carrier since before the first iPhone was released and always felt a sense of loyalty to the company even though my job was not in sales or service (plus the employee phone pricing was... free), so I have been watching iPhone evolve the whole time. I was laid off from that job a few months back and, as my phone benefit came to an end, I decided it was high time to try iPhone. I'm more than a little impressed!

Luke, it sounds like you may have a defective device on your hands. My past experience with Nokia has always been very good, but every model will have a few units that are defective in some way. You should exchange that one. Please let us know how it turns out.

Having been a Nokia fan for some time I was keen to get my hands on the new N97.

I recieved it last Friday and eagerly opened up the box, inserted my SIM and the battery and turned it on. What an anti climax! The touch screen is not responsive at all, it seems to work when it wants to not when you want it to. The S60 operating system is so old and slow, it is painful to use. Soldiering on and desperate to find something I liked and could boast about to my iPhone toteing colleagues I set up the email application. Again, a dissapointment. Why on earth, have Nokia not provided HTML support for emails, yes there is an icon you can click which brings up a poorley formatted HTML version of the email.

Nokia appear to have blown thier budget on the design, the phones one good point. The slide out keyboard is a dream to use, it

I'm a blogger & gadget freek, so blogging about the N97, combined with actually owning one (soon - end of June), is an ideal combo. I also run a couple of businesses & teach Physics, so I guess that makes me a hypernerd.

Hoping to use my N97 as a key part of my business over the next year & will give updates on how I get on with it as I get to know it. Looking forward to using Qik.
