Nokia Surge
Nokia and AT&T have officially announced the availability of the Nokia Surge, a new S60 based phone which will be targeted at users who are particularly into social networking. According to Nokia’s press release the Surge is “an ideal device for active consumers who like to stay connected whether using IM, text or email, sending multimedia messages, AT&T Video Share, or updating and connecting via their favorite social networks.”
The device is for those users who just need to be connected at all times. Nokia even cites a study that says consumers would rather give up coffee and sweets than their mobile device. The Surge has a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard and a 2.0 megapixel camera with 4X zoom.
As an S60 device, it features a browser with Flash that allows users to watch their Youtube videos and view full websites. It also gives users access to the typical features of an AT&T phone such as AT&T Navigator, Mobile Music, and Video Share. It also provides access to the media sharing service Juicecaster.
The Surge will be available in AT&T stores and for order online on July 19th. With the customary 2-year service agreement, it will be $79.99 (actually$129.99 with a $50 mail-in rebate).
