New White MacBook
The new system outperforms the coveted 2GHz aluminum unibody MacBook. At a price difference of $300, outward appearance may still lure prospective buyers, but Macworld’s testing gives higher benchmark results to the entry-level model.
Apple’s update of the $999 model last month increased the speed of the Core 2 Duo processors from 2GHz to 2.13GHz and hard drive capacity from 120GB to 160GB. Apple’s entry-level notebook now includes 800MHz DDR2 memory instead of the previous 667MHz DDR2 RAM. The new 2.13GHz white MacBook is approximately 6.5 percent faster than the previous 2GHz model, with faster times for all tests, including a boost of approximately 8% in Photoshop times and iTunes MP3 encoding with a 5% speed increase running Cinema 4D.
The 2GHz aluminum-clad MacBook’s only higher marks are outward appearance and price. Both feature Core 2 Duo processors with 3MB of shared L2 cache, 160GB hard drives, 2GB of RAM, 1066GHz system buses and Nvidia 9400M graphics. So, why would anyone pay $300 more? Certainly, the “shiny” factor will influence many new buyers, but white is still shiny, right?
Overall, the new white MacBook was about 5% faster than the Aluminum MacBook, so if you’re looking for the new hotness on a budget, go for the white one.

Your source is absolutely false. The new Macbook Pro 13 inch is sitting on 2GB of RAM, yes, but it’s DDR3 Ram, whereas the white macbook is DDR2 Ram. The Pro series also boasts a glass screen which offers a more vivid picture, an SD card slot, and a freaking back-lit keyboard. Not to mention that if you order using a student discount, the Macbook Pro is essentially only $100 more than the white macbook. Don’t be a fool. Go for the Pro series before they raise the prices back up lol.
