The Mimo 710-S USB monitor
Road warriors who have opted for the traveling convenience of an ultraportable, but have found the reduced screen real-estate results in overcrowding, might be interested in the new Mimo 710-S “Mobile Slider” USB monitor. The 710-S boasts the same basic features as the Mimo 710, including 7-inch high resolution 800 x 480 pixel display, 350 cd/m2 brightness, 400:1 contrast ratio and built-in video card. But the form factor has been updated into a clam-shell design to protect the display when traveling from A to B.
Since the 710-S includes a built-in video card and is USB powered the unit connects to a Mac or Windows PC via a single USB cable – no additional bulky power supply required. The integrated stand and cover allows the monitor to pivot 90 degrees for viewing in either landscape or portrait mode. And if one extra display isn’t enough, you can try and build your own video wall with multiple units depending on the specs of the PC to which they are connected. Gamers be warned though, any software that requires 3D hardware acceleration cannot be displayed on the 710-S, or indeed any USB monitor.
The Mimo 710-S is currently available for pre-order for USD$149.99.
