LaCie Rugged XL
You might be familiar with LaCie’s Rugged portable hard drives, which were built for the road, but used 2.5″ drives and hence were only available in sizes up to 500GB. Now there’s an option for those of you who need a sturdy drive with more storage – the Rugged XL, with 1 terabyte of storage.
The Rugged XL has USB 2.0 and eSATA interfaces, offering 30 megabyte/second and 80 megabyte/second burst speeds respectively. Unfortunately the FireWire 400/800 interface of the previous LaCie Rugged series is absent, and the ability to bus power the drive gone along with it – making the Rugged XL significantly less appealing to Mac owners than previous models.
The Rugged XL will be available soon for $159.99. Visit LaCie for more information.
