iUnika's UMPC range
iUnika today announced a range of four UMPCs which are made from biodegradable plastics, weigh just 700 grams (1.55 pounds) and start at €130 ($176), with the solar-powered iUnika Solar available for €160 ($217). Read on for the tech specs we managed to decipher from the Spanish press release.

So while you definitely won’t be installing Windows 7 on one of these things, you certainly can’t argue with the price, the weight, or the nod to the environment. I can’t see myself being productive on a machine like this (your milage may vary) but I wouldn’t think twice about buying one as a first computer for a child.
We’re not sure whether iUnika is using the traditional interpretation of UMPC, which requires a touch-screen, or the popular interpretation that doesn’t, and includes everything from a BlackBerry to a MacBook Air. We’ve asked iUnika for clarification on this one and will update you once we hear back.
Update: They’re using the popular interpretation.
iUnika UMPCs will be available worldwide by the end of June.
