HP Mini 311
The folks at Laptop Mag recently got their hands on the HP Mini 311, which features the nVidia Ion LE chipset, and put it through some benchmarks of varying usefulness. It achieved a score of 1,917 on PCMark05 and 1,386 on 3DMark06 – both these figures unsurprisingly higher than the average scores of GPU-less netbooks.
They also used vReveal to transcode a 114MB AVI to MPEG-4 in just over 6 minutes, nearly five times faster than without a GPU. Their final test was, to be honest, a little ridiculous – installing the game Far Cry 2 and achieving an unplayable 12 frames per second. Obviously, less demanding games will fare better.
