AT&T today announced that the Dell Aero, Dell’s first smartphone, will be available “soon”. They were pretty slim on the details, but we can tell you the Aero is packing a 3.5-inch (640×360) display, GPS, Flash Lite, contacts/calendar integration with Facebook friends/events, and a 5 megapixel camera with Flickr, Facebook, Picassa, YouTube and TwitPic sharing.
Just in case you hadn’t noticed, the Aero is sporting a custom interface on top of Android, which was designed by AT&T and Dell. The home screen certainly looks “nice”, but the list of applications in landscape mode shows a horribly inefficient use of screen real estate. Hopefully this is just an early mockup and not at all representative of the finished product.
Of course, there’s no word on price, availability, or what version of Android it’s running, but we will be watching this one, so stay tuned.
