Cell phone-enabled dress
Is this a fashion emergency rescue? No, it’s just her dress ring, um, flashing. Yes, fashion and technology are coming together in London with a really bright idea, the cell phone-enabled dress.
Think about it. The lights are low, the loud music is non-stop and that call you can’t miss instantly grabs everyone’s attention.
“Excuse me, ma’am… your dress is ringing.”
This could be a scene from a new Star Trek movie, right? Well, a few lights and some trusty bluetooth connectivity may not be all that futuristic, but Maria Sharapova’s blinking phone dress has all eyes on Sony Ericsson and Georgie Davies, the 20 year old fashion student who designed the prototype, a cocktail dress made up of interactive scales, inspired by butterfly wings that light up whenever the wearer receives a call.
