AT&T offering early iPhone 3G upgrades.

AT&T has begun offering select customers at least 14 months into their 2 year contract the opportunity to upgrade to the iPhone 3G at subsidized prices of $199 (8GB) and $299 (16GB).

Previously, these subsidized prices were only available to customers who had reached the end of a 2 year contract. Apple and AT&T have both recently started selling contract-free iPhone 3G handsets for $599 (8GB) and $699 (16GB).

These moves are likely attempts to clear stock of the iPhone 3G ahead of Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference in June, where it is almost certain that Apple’s third-generation iPhone handset will be announced.

AT&T sucks. They really do. I can not upgrade my phone unless I pay full price. The reason for this penalty against me? I am already a paying customer. So they’d rather see me cut my ties with them for $120 than get $199 for a new phone + a new 2-yr commitment.

If *anyone* ever questions why corporations suck or why they go bankrupt or why they cant keep customers ORRRRRR why there is no such thing as ‘customer loyalty’ then there is no need to look any further than AT and effin T.

Im amazed at people not happy with At&t cuz big T wont discount their phones again to the existing 3G customers with contract. We didn’t complain when we got the first discount and signed on a 2 yr contract and got the 3G Iphone at $2oo and $3oo discount. Yet, we demand, that At&t owes us another deep discount on the 3Gs Iphone again. Wow what a concept. However, I wont fulfill my contract of 2 yrs yet I want a discount again. At&t is a for profit company and profit is not a bad concept to stay in business and provide great service.
Get over it. Lifes not fair either. Theres no such thing as free Lunch.
