@SM: Believe it or not, the Dell Mini 10 was supposed to be reviewed in this showdown, but the review units didn't get to Australia when they were expected to. I'll ask them again now.

You should have also compared these units with the Dell Inspiron Mini 10. This Netbook will come out on top in all categories.... Build quality (Magnesium Alloy, Spill resistant keyboard), Expandable ports, Optional built in Wireless Broadband, Edge to Edge glass screen, Multi-Touch Track pad, battery life, and Price.

I agree that the HP is great to use and on that basis would be my choice, too.

My main criterion was to be able to carry a computer with the least inconvenience. When I have to do some work on the fly (when I shouldn't be working), to check my mail in cafes when I'm on the road and to carry off a cruise ship and use at internet cafes and then have to carry it around all day. The latter meant size and weight were the main factor, so the Sony was the choice.

I don't like the pointer and often use a tiny bluetooth mouse which I got free with the comp. I do love the size and weight. It actually fits in my bag with my wallet, sunglasses and keys and I have got used to Ctrl +/- to view webpages at a visible resolution.

I also mainly use it to remote desktop to my office where I have a 30" monitor so I can see most of the 30" screen on the little Sony, albeit too small.

I'm happy with the purchase but will likely upgrade when they improve. I also have a 13" Sony SZ which I use in hotel rooms but carry the P around during the day.

What I have learned most with this machine is that I do not need a large hard disc on my notebook - the 64GB is plenty.

This machine is a big compromise but offers a great solution. It was a replacement for my UX which I considered unusable.

PC User magazine still has a MSI Wind model as their preferred netbook. How about a review?
