Android users: liberate audio and video content with Pixelpipe

Pixelpipe application on Android

Pixelpipe, the content distribution gateway service that distributes your content—now including audio and video—across multiple social media sites, released a big update Friday. Android users running “Cupcake” can now send videos to Facebook, Picasa, 12Seconds.tv, Twitter, Flickr and others, with additional options over the built-in YouTube uploader.

Pixelpipe uploads can run in the background without closing the connection, unlike the iPhone version’s limited function which stops the connection when the application is closed. Similar in function to TwitPic and other services, each media upload updates a customizable landing page and a corresponding pi.pe link is generated.

Because the updated app enables large music and audio uploads directly from the handset, Pixelpipe has rewritten the mobile upload service so that large files can be sent from slower mobile connections. This update is available now and free of charge in the Android Market.

Tips:

- Press Menu to switch between video, audio and photo views

- Select the text to the right of the media to set title, caption and tags

- Use routing tags to send to specific destinations at time of upload eg. @twitter, @facebook

- You can send to Pixelpipe directly from the Camera and Gallery options by selecting Menu and then Share and choosing Pixelpipe. This feature is great since it’s convieniant and doesn’t require that open the Pixelpie application.

- Press the Home key to put Pixelpipe in the background and continue uploading
