Telstra Next G
3 customers with compatible handsets can now get 3G speeds outside 3’s coverage areas thanks to an agreement with Telstra that provides roaming on their Next G network. Previously, 3 customers roamed to Telstra’s 2G network. The new agreement brings 3’s 3G coverage to 96% of Australia.
For a handset to be compatible with roaming to Telstra’s Next G network, they will need to be support both 2100MHz (3) and 850MHz (Next G) bands. Compatible handsets include the Nokia N71, BlackBerry Bold and iPhone 3G.
