
Adobe has finally announced the release of Flash 10.1 mobile to be built into smartphones. Flash 10.1 has been in beta for a while on the Android platform, and will be released to Android 2.2 devices in the market today. Adobe is also releasing Flash Mobile to platform partners so it can be included in other operating systems such as Windows Mobile, webOS, Blackberry and others.

Slingplayer Mobile for Android
Today Sling has released it’s television placeshifting app to the Android Market. The software, which has been on iPhone and Android platforms for a while, will allow owners of Sling’s set top boxes to watch their video on the go from their Android phone.

RIM recently held an event in New York recently to show off their forthcoming update to the Blackberry App World. This update comes with several big new features including QR codes, carrier and credit card billing, and a new Blackberry ID infrastructure.

Early this morning Apple released their own Apple Store app for the iPhone. The app is available for free in the app store. It offers the ability to make purchases, research products, and even pre order the new iPhone 4. Using geolocation you can find the Apple store nearest you.

There have been a couple of rumored android devices coming from Motorola lately: the Droid 2 and the Droid Shadow Xtreme X. The latter has been pictured on Android Forums alongside an Evo and an iPhone 3GS. From the picture you can see just how big the Droid X is. Like the Evo it has a 4.3″ display, and it also rumored to have HD video playback, HDMI out, and an 8 MP camera with dual LED flash. The Droid X is expected to have a 750 MHz processor while the Droid 2 is rumored to have a 1 GHz chip.

Apple iPhone 4
Earlier this spring, Gizmodo bought a supposed iPhone prototype that was “found” in a bar in Redwood City. The device looked oddly square and not at all like something Apple would build, so many figured that while it may have been an iPhone prototype, the finished product would look very different. Last week at WWDC, Apple CEO Steve Jobs finally unveiled the latest revision of the iPhone, creatively titled “iPhone 4.” And it looks nearly identical to the phone Gizmodo showed off. Apple calls the device “the biggest leap since the original iPhone,” and they may just be right.

HTC Evo 4G
The Evo 4G is touted as the next generation of mobile device, featuring a 1 GHz processor, a huge 4.3” screen, micro HDMI out connection, and most importantly a 4G chip for connecting to Sprint’s next generation WiMax network. In the Android world, there’s always another great phone around the corner, so the Evo faces stiff competition from the Droid Incredible and others, but for now with it’s 4G connection it’s got a bit of a leg up.
Since receiving mine at Google I/O, I’ve had a few weeks to play with my Evo 4G and test out a few of it’s capabilities. The device has a few killer features but it suffers from some pretty shoddy battery life. That said let’s break the phone down by each of it’s key aspects.

iPhone OS 4 Tethering
AT&T has announced new two tier data pricing which enables tethering on the high end plan for an extra $20 (once OS4 is released by Apple). The new pricing plans eliminate any option of unlimited data with an additional charge of $10 per GB for any overage. Check out details on pricing after the jump.

Biking on Google Maps for Blackberry
Google has updated it’s Maps application for Blackberry with a couple of new features. First off it shows you biking routes and offers directions for those of you on two wheels. As Google points out, this feature is still in beta (like half of Google’s software), so you shouldn’t go blindly following the biking directions your Blackberry gives you. The biking map can be found in the layers menu.
